Privacy Policy
Car Hunt is a game about photographing cars you find in the real world. This page explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, because you should actually be able to read it.

What we collect

Your photos
This is the part worth understanding properly, because it is the core of how the app works.
When you photograph a car, the image is resized on your phone and sent to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic to be identified. Anthropic returns a description of the vehicle. Neither we nor Anthropic keep the photo afterwards — it exists only for the duration of that request.
The photo itself stays on your phone, in the app's own storage, as part of your garage. It is not uploaded anywhere else, not backed up to us, and not visible to anyone but you.
Location
If you allow it, the app records roughly where you were when you found a car, so your discoveries appear on your map. Accuracy is deliberately coarse (approximately 100 metres) — the app never needs your exact position.
Location is optional. You can decline it when asked, turn it off later in iOS Settings, or disable location tagging inside Car Hunt's own settings. The app works fine without it; you simply lose the map.
Your locations are stored on your device only.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data. Not to anyone, for any amount.
- We do not show advertising, and no advertiser receives anything about you.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not use third-party analytics or attribution tools.
- We do not read your photo library. The app only sees photos you take inside it.
Third parties we rely on
- Supabase — accounts, authentication, and our server functions. Their privacy policy.
- Anthropic — vehicle identification from photos. Their privacy policy.
- Apple — purchases, subscriptions, and Sign in with Apple. Their privacy policy.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google. Their privacy policy.
Deleting everything
Open Car Hunt, go to Profile → Settings → Delete account and all data. This erases your garage, your progress, your account, and everything our server holds for you. It asks twice, because none of it can be recovered.
Deleting the app alone removes your local garage but leaves your account. Use the in-app option if you want everything gone.
You can also email us and we will do it for you.
Children
Car Hunt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. The in-app export and delete options cover most of this immediately. For anything else, email us.
We store data in the region configured for our Supabase project. If you are outside that region, your information is transferred there.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app.
